W.G. Characklis Award
W.G. Characklis Memorial Graduate Scholarship
The annual WG Characklis Award, created in honor of the Center's founder, is presented to a Center for Biofilm Engineering PhD student based on his or her contributions in research, especially as they pertain to advances made in achieving Center goals. Some examples of points considered are: a student's contributions to the Center's research by his or her own efforts and through interactions with other Center students and researchers, and their level of active participation in seminars, classes, presentations, and associations with industrial participants. The Executive Committee recognizes students who demonstrate exceptional leadership qualities and who represent the new generation of engineering/scientist that is a result of the unique cross-disciplinary training acquired here in the CBE.
Nominations may be submitted in writing by principal investigators, academic advisors, and other CBE personnel to Director Matthew Fields. Recipients are selected by the Center's Executive Committee.
