A 7-week summer internship is available to work at the Bozeman Fish Technology Center (Bozeman, MT). The successful candidate will gain research experience in the fields of aquatic physiology and aquaculture nutrition. Specifically, they will be responsible for measuring whole organism metabolism in rainbow trout before and after feeding as part of a larger project examining aquaculture feed development.The positionwill include husbandry and experimentation with live fish, experience using respirometry equipment and software, and data management.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a background in biology, an interest in the fields of aquatic biology or aquaculture, a good work ethic, and the desire to learn. No prior research or laboratory experience is required but is preferred.

Duration and Start Date

The appointment will run from June 5 -July 21, 2023 under the direct supervision of Dr. Abigail Bockus.

Stipend

The intern will be awarded a $3,500 stipend upon completion of the internship.Location: The position will be based at the US Fish and Wildlife Service Bozeman Fish Technology Center in Bozeman, MT USA.
