Sara joined the CBE in 2012 as a research associate and laboratory manager in the Fields Lab. As manager, she oversees daily operation of the lab, instrument maintenance and contracts, biological and chemical safety compliance, inventory maintenance, trains and mentors students, and maintains required USDA permits. She serves as a contact point for collaborators to assist with anaerobic methods, reactor systems, and biofilm related projects. Sara conducts research on both industrial and grant-funded projects with a primary focus on the physiology and ecology of anaerobic microorganisms. She creates and implements research plans, manages projects, develops and executes methods, and contributes to manuscripts. Sara holds two bachelor's degrees from Montana State University, one in biological sciences and one in biotechnology as well as a Secondary Education License with Science Endorsement.
